Building A Single-Page Application Using Vue
Building A Single-Page Application Using Vue
Reflection Report #1 - As Participant
I. Details of the event/activity
A webinar organized by Ideas R Us introduced—or made a refresher course to some—the possibility of building a single-page application through the use of the currently in-demand technology, Vue. The resource speaker, Mr. Gerald Michael Austria, is an alumnus of Gordon College and is currently working as a senior software engineer. This was conducted last October 2, 2022.
II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)
The continuous need for digital equivalents of its traditional counterparts has pushed millions of people to focus on the I.T. industry—specifically on application development. This and the advent of the pandemic further made people realize the worth of online services; removing the need for an in-person process. The webinar focused on applied learning. Some of the key takeaways when it comes to Vue.js are as follows:
Component-driven Development follows the concept of individually creating “building blocks” before merging them to create a single application.
Single Page Applications utilize a single page in its entirety. This removes the necessity of reloading the page in contrast to its counterpart—Multiple Page Application (MPA).
Reasons to choose Vue.js:
Ease of learning
Vue.js adopts all JS plugins
Custom components are easy to do
Organized routing structure
Fast compilation and performance
PWA compatible
III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)
The rise of single-page applications opens a lot of opportunities to maybe start accepting commissions for making landing pages for websites since the development process of single-page applications are more accessible and can be done in a short span of time.
IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization)
Greatly managed the time and kept the audience entertained and focused through the use of background music as well as a short break amid the long coding session.
V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities
The organizers should have asked the participants (in their post-evaluation form) what activities or webinar topics they should tackle as this would give anticipation on the participants' side to keep them coming back for a more engaging event.
