"Cybersecurity and Data Privacy" was the topic of a webinar that Scripted hosted. Mr. Carven Mark Viado, the resource speaker, is a senior high school teacher whose area of expertise is TVL-ICT. This was done on October 6, 2022.
We are living in a world, a digital world specifically, wherein data is seen as this small unconvincingly dangerous thing that most people tend to overlook. Social media sites, physical places, and everything on the internet collect our data. It is only at our discretion if we allow them to take what's ours for their advantage. The following are the takeaways from the webinar:
5 Ways To Stay Secure
1. Urge people to use good online safety practices.
2. Educate people on more than simply the fundamentals.
3. Maintain perimeter and internal security.
4. Possess the capacity to respond to incidents.
5. Think about hiring experts to handle your cybersecurity.
According to the speaker, the demand for cybersecurity professionals including those in I.T. is going to skyrocket by 2025-2030. This prediction is believable since the public is gradually populating social media sites, other web applications, or basically the internet. The increase in users would also lead to more job openings in this field as they are very much needed for safer surfing.
As an I.T. professional in the making, I should be aware of these threats to our data. Learning more to secure mine and others' so that intruders won't be able to take advantage of our sensitive information.
The event was fun and interactive. The organizers rewarded the student who came out first in a short prepared quiz concerning cybersecurity and data privacy. Though the webinar was short, it was worthwhile.
Though the webinar was concise and just enough to cover the important subtopics, the information being given could be more---hitting more points and expanding what the students or the audience already know.
